1. What this covers
In short: share what's yours to share, keep it lawful, and treat the people on your trip with respect. If something crosses the line, report it and we'll act.
This policy applies to everything you put into GoTripping that other people can see: trip chat messages, documents and photos in the Vault, trip and idea names, plan items, notes, lists, expense titles and receipts, and your name and profile.
Remember that a trip is shared. Anything you add to a trip can be seen by everyone on it, as our Terms explain.
2. Nothing unlawful
Don't use GoTripping for anything unlawful. That means anything illegal where you are, or under the laws of India or the United States, including sharing content the law prohibits, or using the app to plan, carry out, hide or help with a crime.
This applies whoever you are on the trip and whatever the content is. "It was only shared with my group" is not an exception.
3. What you can't share
Don't post, upload or send anything that:
- sexually exploits or endangers children in any way. We have zero tolerance: we remove it, close the account, and report it to the authorities;
- is pornographic or sexually explicit, or shares intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone, including on the basis of gender, religion, caste, race, ethnicity, disability or sexual orientation;
- promotes or glorifies violence, terrorism or self-harm, or incites hatred against a group;
- shares someone else's private information or documents (their ID, passport, phone number or address, for example) without their permission;
- impersonates a person or organisation, or misleads people about who you are;
- is fraudulent: scams, phishing, fake receipts or expense records, or anything meant to launder money or disguise where it came from;
- you don't have the right to share, such as someone else's copyrighted work or trademark;
- contains malware, or links designed to harm devices or steal information;
- is spam, or promotes gambling or other services the law restricts;
- is deliberately false or misleading in a way meant to cause harm;
- threatens the unity, integrity, security or sovereignty of India, public order, or relations with other countries, or is otherwise prohibited by Indian law.
4. Trip chat
Trip chat is for the people on your trip. Disagreeing is fine, and so is talking money and plans through: that's what the chat is for. Abuse isn't.
We can't settle disagreements about who owes what or what the plan should be. Those are for your group to work out. We step in on content that breaks this policy.
5. Documents in the Vault
Only upload documents you have the right to store and share with the people who can see them. A family member's ID or ticket is fine when they're on the trip with you and know it's there; someone else's, without their permission, isn't.
Don't use the Vault to store or pass around anything this policy prohibits.
6. Reporting something
- A chat message: press and hold it, then choose Report message. Pick a reason and send. The person isn't told who reported them, and you can also hide their messages from yourself.
- Anything else, such as a document, a name, a plan item or a whole trip: write to grievance@gotripping.app with the trip's name and what you're reporting. Please don't attach the content itself if it's illegal; describe where it is and we'll find it.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the local emergency services first (112 in India, 911 in the United States).
7. What we do
We review every report. Depending on what we find, we may:
- remove the content;
- pause chat on a trip;
- suspend or close the account responsible;
- keep a record and share it with law enforcement where the law requires us to, or where someone's safety is at risk.
Where we're able to, we'll tell the account holder what we did and why. If you think we got it wrong, write to us at the address below and we'll look again.
We acknowledge reports within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
8. What we don't do
We don't read your trip chats or open your documents as a matter of routine, and we don't scan them for advertising. There are no ads in GoTripping. When a chat message is reported, we see that message and who sent it, and nothing else from the trip. Our Privacy Policy has the detail.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app or the law changes. The date at the top always shows the current version, and we'll tell you in the app about significant changes.
