Booking it, chasing it, fronting the money, and reconstructing who owes what on the flight home. GoTripping exists to stop that — by giving the trip back to everyone on it.
Group travel apps tend to be built for the organiser. They give that one person better tools for a job that shouldn't have been theirs alone — a neater itinerary to broadcast, a tidier spreadsheet to chase people with. The work stays in the same place. It just looks more organised.
Meanwhile everyone else is a spectator with a payment obligation. They don't know what's booked, they don't know what's next, and they find out what they owe at the end, as a number with no explanation attached.
We didn't want to build a better tool for the organiser. We wanted the trip to stop having one.
So GoTripping is a shared layer, not an admin panel. Anyone on the trip can add a place, confirm whether they're coming, upload their own ticket, see what's happening tomorrow, and check exactly what they owe and why — without asking anyone. The person who started the trip still steers it. They just stop carrying it alone.
Every group knows this and most groups let it slide. A family of four pays the same as a solo traveller. A seven-year-old who ate half a dosa is billed like an adult who ordered a second round. A grandparent who skipped the boat trip pays for the boat trip. Nobody says anything, because raising it feels petty — and because the alternative is maths nobody wants to do on holiday.
GoTripping does the maths. Every traveller carries a weight, and the bill divides by weights rather than by headcount.
| Adult | 1× |
| Elder | 0.75× |
| Child | 0.5× |
| Anyone in between | set your own |
Weights are saved once per person in your roster and reused on every trip. A whole family can settle as a single line against the rest of the group, so the kids never appear as separate debtors.
Group travel is universal. How a group actually settles up is not — and most apps pick one market's habits and make everyone else adapt. GoTripping is built natively for both of ours.
See your share in GoTripping, then settle yourself in your own UPI app. Made for multi-family holidays, pilgrimages, reunions and road trips — where the group is large, the ages are mixed, and equal splits have never once been fair.
₹799 per Trip PassSee your share in GoTripping, then settle yourself in your own Venmo, Zelle or Cash App. Made for the group house, the road trip, the destination weekend — where one person's card takes the hit and the follow-up never quite happens.
$9.99 per Trip PassOne purchase per Pass, whichever country you're in — and a trip stays free up to three travellers, seven days and the starter storage allowance. Full detail is in the Terms of Service.
I'm Karthik Balakrishnan, an individual developer based in India, building and operating GoTripping and gotripping.app from Bengaluru. It's one person and a long list of group trips that went sideways in instructive ways.
That has a practical upside for you: there's no support queue between you and the person who decides what gets built. If something in the app is wrong, or the split logic doesn't handle your group's situation, write in. It gets read by whoever would have to fix it.
I'm still early. Some things will be rough. I'd rather launch honestly and fix things quickly than pretend there's a company or team behind this.
